The work of Pennsylvania artist Gina Robertson is an exploration of the beauty of the everyday around us through color and luminosity. She uses detailed layering of transparent pigments to visually articulate a world of color on canvas.

Gina is a painter and art educator who lives in Gettysburg. From a young age, she has been interested in the visual arts. After graduating from Kutztown University with a B.S. in Art Education she went on to teach elementary art in the Gettysburg Area School District for 40 years. In retirement, she is focused on exploring visual arts expression through painting. Working in her home studio from life and inspirations from her own photography, she creates original acrylic and oil paintings filled with vibrant color and detail.

Artist Statement

Painting, for me, is to visually interact with the observable world, interpreting, imagining, and reflecting on the experience through rich colors applied on canvas. From the initial direct drawing with paint on the surface, to building up layers of color, I use varied brushstrokes and mark making in describing a visually rich world. I am fascinated with color nuances and the myriads of hues created by the reflection of light off surfaces. The more one observes, the more there is to see.  I find the process of painting to be an enjoyable experience of discovery. My hope is that my art inspires others to view the world in a new and colorful way.
